The world would be a better place if everything was crystal clear

I use to think work harder, get into uni and get out of this place.

But the more i think about it, what is the point when i'm working my ass off to get to a place with more stress and unanswered questions?

The ultimate goal to life to being able to earn enough money to die in a bed and have a coffin to be dumped in...

Is it even worth it?

i'm really sick of this. ugly people and ugly hearts.

Summer 2006

7/7 - 28/8

the shortest summer ever..

*

HKU Summer 06' Career Discovery
10/7/06 - 29/7/06

everyday was so packed full ( 3 week crash course of yr one archi, said one of the TAs)

i moaned... ..a lot... but i had so much fun

i can't possibly get a pic of everything we went through... plus with my stolen bag , i just nicked pics of ppl... SOZ...

lectures-  everything is soo vague,

eg. 1- [ What is Architecture]

9:30am Prof. LL"Today i will BREIFLY tell you what is architecture"....

1 hr ppt presentation..

10:30am  Chris: "So what is architecture?"

Prof. LL: " Good question! i don't know! as i should have mentioned earlier there is no answer to this question"

e.g. 2 [ Architecture through music]

Prof:  "Music and Architecture has a close relationship between them"

video of flying bubbles bouncing off buildings..

Prof: " Can you feel the pulse and the beat the pillars are giving off?...........These pillars have a gap between them, giving rapid pulses, showing that it doesnt want you to go in.."

what kept us going was the thought of another 30% discount off ice frapp. we could grab after the lectures.

n i had fun waking up ppl during the lectures :D

Workshops

e.g. 1 Create a chair using rubbish

group 2's chair LESS IS MORE (inspired by jackson's theory)

core/base made from rolled up magazines n bottles

seat- sealed cardboard box creating a cushion of air

there are more details and functions to this chair which i doubt ppl are interested in...

Chung our TA, fully showing the stablity of our chair

Jenny our TA displaying our chair

Chris n edmond showing the concept and the evolution of a normal chair to OUR chair

yes... we do take pride in our chair

compliments to the 'SIT AND SHIT chair'

Visits

HK Wetland Park-  totally worth going, the building looks amazing
btw, nearly all the things including some plants are fake..

Anderson our director looking artsy.... i had a better pic.. but camera got stolen that day :'(
i couldnt resist stealing this pic of sumone's xanga.. sorry..

Shek kip mei housing estate
After an hour long of lecture after the history of housing estates we  headed the shek kip meh housing estate; first housing estate in HK

Walking from the no. 41 block to No.1 block really brought up my mood

Aedas Firm Visit
Extremely interesting about how their workplace has an open plan, no further details needed.
But dam i will never get into that place... soo hard.. ><

HK urban renewal centre
By the time i graduate, HK will have to build building on top of each other...
obviously the guys are extremely excited abt the visit...
the place is pretty cool, very interactive n nice models

when i went to work exp. half the ppl are dress like that

Ju n Katie going nuts at CPK, i was regreting introducing them to each other at that time...

Attempt to look artsy, unfortunately, we have a long way to get to the stage of where anderson is

Model Making

 new CU Hotel management building

everything has to be so
precise and neat... cutting every single step...had to make two bases for the bottom of the stairs.. like whos going peek!

in the end.. i made three sets of these...

Going to update pics of the overall model later..

Ying Wong (EEG) building @ Beijing

Other random models

My usual afternoon's work, making loads of mastering model

only made the grey ones... wish i could do sumthing like this...

Sample board making

i hate sample boards... an architect comes up to you with a rendering of a building and askes you to put a board together expressing various materials the building can be made out of...

sounds easy... but when the architect wants purple but ' not too purple, vivid yet not too blue...'

you start going through the pantone chart with over 50sth shades of purple and he still think its not the colour he has in mind...

and when you're building involves, rocks, tiles, paint and aluminum cladding its a nerve racking job..

you first go into the libary and pull out heaps of rocks n tiles that you THINK might be what the archi is looking for ( e.g. cool grey, with a slight pattern but not too dynamic.... what is that suppose to mean!?!?)

calling up sales asking them to bring in samples of materials you want, in my brief one week on making a smaple board i have collected about 10kg worth of tile/rock/ paint/ aluminum samples..

i realise how medium pressed n medium rolled can make soo much difference, yet i still get confused with all that tile shit..

mini bday parties for staff¬ such gd perks

overall, i had fun chatting to year outs and archis, getting some many cuts and finally mastering the skill of cutting foam boards..
